I don't usually report sad things on my blog, but today is different. A friend of mine from high school, Dave Hibbert, lost his son last night due to a choking accident. His son, Mason, choked on a pretzel on Tuesday. His poor Mom was unable to dislodge it and by the time the ambulance came, he'd been without air for too long. He has been on life support for the last couple of days and they took him off last night. Mason was only 18 months old and is a twin to brother, Lincoln. These are the only two kids that Dave and Char have. They overcame a lot of hardship to bring these boys into the world and I can't imagine the pain they are going through now.I would ask that you keep their family in your prayers. Donation accounts have been set up at Zions Bank and Wells Fargo under Mason Curtis Hibbert. They will have costly medical expenses to pay.
Of course, this hits close to home with me for more than one reason. The boy's name is Mason, he looks quite a bit like my Mason, and my last blog entry was of my little Mason with a pretzel in his mouth. I am so grateful that I was only a couple of seconds away from him when he dumped out the bag of pretzels. My simple mistake could have cost him his life. Please hold your children extra close. They are a very precious gift from above and we should be grateful for every second we have with them. I know that I have squeezed my little Mason and checked on him as he slept more times in the last 24 hours than I thought possible. Kiss them, tell them you love them. Much love to all my friends and family.

Ok, now that I have finished drying my eyes, I have to tell you how sorry I am to hear about the death of little Mason. I am devastated for their family and for the loss that they are dealing with. It breaks my heart and I appreciate your gentle reminder to hold your children close and cherish the moments you have together. I will keep their family in our prayers.
That is so heartbreaking Brandy! I can also imagine how you must feel about Mason getting into pretzels a few days earlier. Weird. When I read that entry, I was thinking, "I didn't know pretzels were a choking hazard." Then to have your next entry about a child dying from choking on a pretzel...
When Dallas was about 2, an acquaintance of mine from college and her neice, who was the same age as Dallas (I was pregnant the same time as her mother..had classes with her an everything)died in a horrible car accident. It really freaked me out and I was terrified of letting Dallas ride in a care with anyone. When someone you actually know loses a child, it really hits home and makes you cling to your own and makes you appreciate them and worry about them even more.
I will keep those poor parents in my prayers.
