Camping II

Okay, back to camping. As you saw from my previous entry, we got DIRTY! I call it 'camping' although Mason and I didn't ever stay overnight. Just pretend we did, if it makes it feel more real to you. There were quite a few people, when we were all there at the same time. Janell, Mike, Dylan, & Kaylee Yarbrough, Nicole, Wade, Ethan, & Ellie Perkes, Mom & Dad Reynolds, Josh, Brandy, & Mason Heiner. We ate lots, chased kids, played games, & hung around the campfire. Mason and I went up on Friday and Saturday only, since I wasn't keen on the idea of sleeping in a tent. Mason didn't nap much while we were there either, so it was necessary for him get good sleep at night. All of the others camped out. I'm sure we missed out on some game playing and fun story telling by not staying, but we still had so much fun. I was amazed (and very lucky) that Mason and the other kids enjoyed playing in my make shift play yard. I really didn't want Mason picking up every twig/pine cone/rock and sticking it in his mouth, so crawling wasn't really an option. As you'll see from the pictures, our little area worked out well. At one time or another, all 5 kids played inside it. It didn't keep all of the dirt out, but it was enough that Mason could play safely. Please note that Mason getting dirty wasn't a factor. That would have been an impossible feat. The goal was merely to have a fun, SAFE time in the mountains. Ethan (5) and Dylan (4) played together most of the time, with Ellie (2) hot on their heels. Kaylee and Mason (both 1, Kaylee is 2 months older) played very well together. Mason hasn't ever been around a baby his own age, so I was nervous if he'd be rough or not like to share. He was great! In fact, Kaylee sat right on top of him in the play yard and he didn't budge. You all know that I think my baby is ridiculously cute, but I have to admit that I was jealous of how much hair Kaylee has. I'd feel bad if Kaylee, being a girl and all, was bald, but couldn't Mason have gotten a little more hair??? Sheesh! There were plenty of moose sightings, but not by me. I even drove around the campsites hoping to see a moose. It wasn't to be. I saw a few deer and a zillion squirrels, so I felt I got some bit of wild life.

Again, a big THANK YOU to Janell and Mike for letting us crash their camping trip. We had such a fun time and are so grateful that you are carrying on the tradition. Hopefully, we'll camp the whole week next year!

There are a ton of pictures that are so fun. If the slideshow is too slow for you, just click on view all images and then you can buzz right through them.
