Book 'em

After reading my friend's (Rachel and Corinne) blogs about reading, I thought I'd post some pics/clips of Mason 'reading'. He has always loved books (almost as much as TV). He is extremely particular about which books he reads. He goes through the shelf and discards the rejects to the floor. When he finally comes across one that he's interested in, he will immediately sit down and begin flipping through the pages. He learned how to turn pages at a really young age, about the same time he learned to kiss. I taught him the kissing part, but he did the page turning all on his own. Figures, since my entire family (except me) loves to read. The Rolie Polie Olie books are his favorite, which you can't purchase at a regular bookstore. I've only found them online. We inherited the ones we have now from Nic and Wade. I am constantly amazed at how expensive books are, so I am very grateful for all of the books we inherit from them. His 2nd favorite choice in books are the 'That's Not My...' series. They are touch and feel books that have various themes (That's Not My Monster, That's Not My Train, That's Not My Snowman, etc.). Very cute! It's so fun to read to Mason. He is so animated about certain books and specific pages in those books. I have two of the Rolie Polie Olie books memorized and I'll 'read' with him from across the room. He tries to skip pages and go back to pages to see if I'll follow him with the story, which I always do. However, it makes putting away laundry and quoting the book at the same time impossible.

Notice that our (ridiculously ginormous) cat, Luna, is always around. She loves to be near us at all times.

The first clip is of Mason 'sorting'. The second is of him 'reading'.

I love it when babies 'read' book. Its always moments like these that make me feel MORE guilty for not reading to them as much (or in Blakes case at all!).

I dont think we'll be coming home until at least summer time (if even then). But when we do I'd love to get our little heathens together to see what naughty things they can teach each other!
