- You've stopped eating baby food altogether. You want to feed yourself 'finger foods' and it's usually cheese or sweet potato puffs. Obviously not enough of the 4 food groups. You shake your head 'no, no, no' when I try to pull a fast one on you and serve you baby food. You won't eat cut up pears or peaches and only tolerate a couple of bites of green beans. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO FEED YOU! Last night, I learned that you love Mac and Cheese and will eat Raman noodles in small amounts. It's a start, I guess.
- You were saying 'guh, guh, guh' for about 2 weeks solid and then just stopped last week. No new sounds to replace it other than your normal, silly shrieking. Of course, you still make your arms and legs stiff as a board when you do it. Then you laugh at yourself.
- You've stopped grinding your front teeth together! Yeah!
- As soon as you started crawling (2 wks. ago) you started using your legs a lot more. You pull yourself to kneel at every object taller than you. You will stand with help and walk a little while someone holds your hands. You especially like walking with someone else's feet under yours. Aunt Nic showed you how this was done and you love it!
- You are eating meals at the table in your little chair, now that the house isn't in construction mode. I turn the tv for you to see. Probably not a great idea, but you really enjoy tv. I have noticed that you pay less attention to shows now that you are more mobile. Alice in Wonderland is the exception, you still watch that very intently. And, of course, you'll watch Luna if she's anywhere near.
- You are still not sure about sippy cups. It's funny to watch the surprise in your expression each time liquid comes out when you bite on the spout.
- You have a slight bit of curl in the very back of your hair. It's finally getting long enough to see it. Your cowlick in the front of your hair is giving you a little lift over your widow's peak.
- You still love the bath, only now, you are on your belly for most of it. You crawl to reach your toys and usually drink a few mouthfuls of water in the process. You continue to try to pull yourself up against the tub/tile. You slip every time and I'm grateful that I'm there spotting you. As soon as Stacy is back from her cruise, we'll go swimming.
- I love that you are always sitting up in the crib, waiting for me to come get you when you wake up. You talk and talk and talk. You generally give me one free kiss when I pull you out of the crib.
- You are still a 'silk licker'. Anything silky goes straight in your mouth.
- You chase Luna all over the house. She lets you get within a couple of inches of her and then takes off. You laugh and follow right after her.
- The song "What a Wonderful World" comes to my mind when I see the look on your face when we go outside. You appear to be taking it all in. The trees, the neighborhood dogs, the grass, the cars, everything.
- You have been napping less and less. This is not fun for me. You used to be consistent; 2 hours, twice a day. No more. I barely get 3 hours all day from you. Plus, you are waking up earlier. I've tried putting you to bed 30-60 minutes later with no luck of you sleeping in. 7am, you're wide awake. You are grumpy when I try to keep you up later anyway!
- When you crawl out of your room, you head straight for the bathroom. Once I close that door, you go to the computer room. Oddly enough, you never try to go into my room. The doors are all right next to each other, but you never step in mine. I find that strange.
- You open and slam shut the entertainment center doors at Gma and Gpa's house. We've put rubber bands on it, so that they don't pull out as far, but you still prevail. Looks like it's time for the safety locks.
- The grass doesn't bug you at all. You will crawl on it with no problem. You do, however, try to eat every blade.
- You've changed your kissing style with me. You've opened your mouth and leaned in for kisses for months now, but this week you started sticking your tongue out too. Oh goody. You then proceed to shake your head from side to side, sliming me with kisses all over my face. If we could just master keeping the tongue in and touching noses, Eskimo kisses would be less messy. Of course, I love any kiss you freely give me. I am forced to steal so many each day against your will.
- You smile big when I say 'ma ma', 'da da' or 'kitty' to you, but you don't try to say them back. You definitely know what they mean. You'll be saying them soon enough.
I love you, little fishy-fish!
