Last week we had the opportunity to participate in the Ogden Marathon Kids K race with Ethan, Ellie, and Mason. Ethan and Wade were serious racers, where the rest of us were a little more low-key. Ellie worked her little butt off, but she was only ever able to run little spurts at a time. She's so tiny and her little legs just couldn't keep up! It was so adorable. We were all together at the START Line (where they had a hose spraying the kids) and then we took off. Ethan and Wade ran with the other hundred kids. I believe the race is actually 1 mile (vs. a kilometer). It meets up with the course that the Marathon runners use, so we were able to see some of them come in for their big finish. Of course, this was right at hour 6 for them. I can't imagine the strength emotionally and physically it would take to run 26 miles! We cheered on anyone we saw and got to cross the same FINISH line as they did. Ethan was able to run the mile somewhere between 11 and 12 min., which we were so proud of! What a kid! He huffed and puffed, but pulled it off. The kids each got a t-shirt with their bib # pinned to it and a bright, red cow bell at the FINISH line. We took lots of pictures and had a very enjoyable time. Afterward, we did what all racers should do...WE GOT ICE CREAM! What could be better than that? ;)
We weren't able to get any race pics of Ethan, since he was racing ahead of us. However, we were lucky enough to find this one on zazoosh.com. It's such an awesome picture of him and just shows how hard he worked. Great Job, Ethan!

So fun! Great job, Ethan...sad to say that's not much faster than my pace. :) We'll have to find one for the kids to do when we're in Utah this summer...followed by ice cream of course!
