Time is passing me by

Today I realized that I haven't truly blogged in way too long. I haven't documented anything, really. A photo here, a hobby there. So this is my catch up entry...for my own sanity. If you want to know snippets of our lives, keep reading. If not, STOP READING MY BLOG! (ha ha, just teasing)

MASON - you know I could go on forever talking up my boy, but I'll instead just mention some things he's doing and saying of late.

WORDS (I hear at least 20 times a day)

BASKETBALL
M&MS
ZOO or ZOOEY (we finally caved & bought a family pass to the zoo)

MICKEY MOUSE
MOM (said while coming over and laying his head on me, so sweet)
KITTY
JUICE
PUNCH
ICE CREAM
YES
OOPS
SORRY
'I MISSED' (referring to the never ending basketball shots)
BIG JUMP (referring to the leaping from coffee table to couch)
'I OKAY' (referring to the 'thud' I hear after hearing 'BIG JUMP'
BYE

Mason has started to say 'bye' to a few select things, when leaving the house. In order, 'bye house, bye kitty, by truck'. This changes when we leave my parent's house to 'bye house, bye kitty, bye truck, bye big basketball'. They have a large basketball hoop attached to their garage. It apparently deserves a goodbye.

Mason continues to be the most amazing, sweet kid. He is apparently ahead of some other children in his ability to recognize and say numbers and letters, for his age. Now don't think I'm saying my child is 'gifted' or anything, it's just that I have had a few people comment on it. We don't work on these things much, or we didn't, before he showed us that he knew most of them. Apparently, being a TV junkie is coming through for this kid. Thanks, Dora and Moose-A-Moose (or whatever it is). For the record, he knows at least half of the alphabet letters by sight and can almost count to 20 on his own. He recognizes numbers 1-10. Why is it that LeapFrog has a fantastic fridge magnet letters system and not numbers?

Mason is growing out of most 2T items and is wearing a size 6 1/2 - 7 shoe. Seems large to me, but I have nothing to compare it too.

SPORTS - (this is probably only half of the collection of sports balls this kid has!)

For the love of hell, where did my child become inclined to sports? Josh is very athletic, but not in the organized sports way, usually. Then again, I suppose Mason is quite the climber too and will most certainly bike well. Anyway, Mason has proved his skills over and over at sports that he's introduced to.
First, he has been able to kick and follow a soccer ball for months.

Then basketball. He hits more shots than I do, most of the time. He will sometimes just sit on the 'bench' and ask us to play for his entertainment. My dad and I have had a few rounds of HORSE, at Mason's insistence. Thanks to family, we have a small basketball standard at our house AND one at my parent's house. He's in heaven.
Now, baseball. I mean, seriously. Who does this kid think he is? We go to Idaho to visit cousins and wa la, he learns how to swing a bat at a t-ball. Generally speaking, he likes to pitch as much as bat. He'll bring me a bat and start chucking balls at me. Between my dad and I, we have almost destroyed a few precious items in their home. Mason is still needing some practice, but man he surprises me with his love of sports! I was disappointed tonight to find that Walmart did not carry a NERF bat. I bought Mason a plastic, small t-ball set instead, since I was tired of swinging around an 8 inch 'kiddie' bat. Let the damage begin!

My personal favorite thing that I caught on video, is Mason's dancing abilities. He's not much of a mover and a shaker normally. However, his cousins can bring it out in him. You don't have to watch it all, but the first 30 seconds are great! Cy has some fantastic moves of his own, after Mason.

LOVED the dancing! I can't believe that those guys still dance to "I like to move it, move it"!

I love this post.

We call that kind of dancing "Riverdance" because it's all feet and legs. Most of my kids have ended up calling it "Rubberdance," and I LOVE it!

Has Mas ever played starfall.com? That's how all my kids have learned so much about letters and the sounds they make. Will walks up to me and says, "Mommy, 'a' says a and ah. Both of them." It's awesome!

Love you!
